This month at Precision Medicine Thursdays, University of MO-Columbia researchers Haval Shirwan and Esma Yolcu will present new therapeutics and technology to modify human immune response. Haval Shirwan will discuss development of a long-lasting biologic that encourages the immune system to prevent cancer in high-risk individuals by eliminating pre-cancer cells at inception. Esma Yolcu, in contrast, will discuss a technology designed to avoid a major limitation to bone marrow transplants, Graft-vs-Host Disease, where the immune system from the donor tissue attacks the recipient.

On the third Thursday of every month, ICTS Precision Medicine hosts a session featuring WashU faculty working in translational genomics/precision medicine areas. Talks are typically oriented toward biotechnology, diagnostics, informatics, start-ups and precision interventions based on medical genomics innovations.
